Beatrix Potter: The Complete Tales (Hardcover) This 400 page hardcover edition of Beatrix Potter's beloved tales includes the original 23 tales plus two previously unpublished stories that were intended to be written up as books but never made it into book form as well as two other illustrated shorts. At a large 8" by 10" hardcover size, this isn't something the little ones are able to carry around as easily as the traditional child size editions, but it is a lovely all-in-one compilation that enables you to read the stories in the order in which they were written and published. This edition has all the original illustrations in both color and black and white. Definitely a curl-up-and-read-with-me keepsake.

Love You Forever by Robert N. Munsch (4 and up) - As a little boy grows up, his mother assures him that she will love him forever.  Then Mom grows up and her boy is there to assure her as well. Very sweet story little ones like to hear again and again.

The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear by Don and Audrey Wood - The little mouse works very hard to pick that red, ripe strawberry, but when he is asked about the big, hungry bear who likes to eat strawberries too, the mouse must take some drastically cute action to save his prize from the big, hungry bear!  Very simple but cute wording and adorable illustrations!  Order here.

Blue's Clues - 2 to 6 year olds would equally enjoy Steve and his puppy Blue, and their friends, all highly recognizable characters (Blue is a big eared blue dog and Steve always wears a green and tan striped shirt and tan pants), which is a comfort for the very young ones. The characters are simply drawn with vivid colors and each story focuses on the interaction with your child. Blue leaves her blue paw prints on objects  and it's up to Steve and the reader to figure out what Blue wants. The books are written just as the show on Nickelodeon is presented, with Steve talking to your child and inviting him/her to help them discover new things.
